ERCP/EUS Workshops chosen as BEST PRACTICE by the AAMC

The Yale Therapeutic ERCP/EUS Workshops were recently named BEST PRACTICE by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the Society for Academic CME (SACME). The two groups recently completed a survey on continuing medical education in the US and Canada. With an over 80% response, many of their findings were BEST PRACTICES identified across the country, in particular Yale's Therapeutic ERCP/EUS Workshops.

The ERCP/EUS Workshop is a live demonstration of Therapeutic ERCP/EUS. Therapeutic ERCP/EUS is an evolving and increasingly important part of gastroenterology. There are ongoing refinements in technique as well as strategies to minimize complication rates in this procedure and the scope of indications continues to expand. For example, it is now possible to capture real time histologic information in the biliary tree at the time of ERCP utilizing a technique known as confocal endomicroscopy.

This unique forum enables participants to see experts utilize complex techniques to evaluate and manage disorders. Advance ERCP and EUS has facilitated accurate diagnosis and, in many instances, provided state of the art therapy which has obviated the need for more invasive surgical intervention significantly improving the care of patients. The Yale University School of Medicine is proud to offer this activity.

What makes these workshops unique is that they allow practitioners to study five different diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP cases and one or two EUS cases that have been pre-selected for demonstration. Dr. Priya Jamidar and team perform the procedures with the audience viewing real-time images in an adjacent conference room. A guest faculty member provides commentary and interacts actively with the course participants and performance team.

Each activity is accredited for 8.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits
for attendees.

Participants who attend the workshops will be able to:

  • recognize and learn how to manage complications associated with the procedure
  • observe and appreciate advanced techniques for gaining access to the biliary tree and pancreas
  • improve skills at radiological interpretation and quality image procurement

Past Guest Faculty have included some of the world's foremost experts in Endoscopy and include:

Accredited for 7 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits(TM), this course will provide needed education to a broad audience of practitioners who see patients with MDD, bipolar disorder and other psychiatric disorders in daily practice. Recent advances in clinical trials have led to a change in the way current psychiatric medications are viewed. There is a pressing need for these findings to be communicated to psychiatric clinicians and translated in a meaningful way to improve the outcomes of patients suffering from psychiatric disorders.
